- August 7, 2020
Following our update on 30th July 2020 we can now confirm that short break and day services will reopen to an identified group of customers.
We are deeply saddened that we are unable to resume normal service delivery due to the restrictions of the Coronavirus pandemic.
We have worked closely with Adult Social Care who have identified those customers who will be offered a service based on individual needs and risk assessments.
For these identified customers Short Break and Day Services will reopen as follows:
– Washington Community Resource Centre – 17/8/20
– Fulwell Community Resource Centre – 17/8/20
– 210 Grindon Lane – 17/8/20
– Grindon Mews 24/8/20
We have set up a Recovery Group to meet weekly with ASC and Commissioning to review the progress of these services and continually review the cohort of customers.
We aim to rebuild and broaden our short break and day service offer cautiously as the national response to the Coronavirus pandemic progresses and restrictions are relaxed; we may however, also need to ‘apply the brakes’ or revert back to a more restricted service if necessary.
Customers, parents and carers will be contacted by either SCAS or ASC to inform them of their postion in relation to access to these services or to discuss alternative support.
For those identified to access short break and day services, the reopening will mean that these services will operate differently in line with current guidance from Public Health England, Government and CQC. We will share information on this with you if you are in the identified cohort, and our ‘new normal’ will be reviewed as part of the Recovery Group meetings and communicated with those accessing services should anything change.
The processes and risk assessments for the services have been shared with ASC and Commissioners and discussed with customers and family members.
