ReelyCreative are a local business who have produced hundreds of dressed rag dolls & teddies which are hand-painted by a nurse and her family. They were supporting the NHS fundraising scheme, advertised rag dolls from felt as “Thank You’s” for Nurses, Doctors, Paramedics, Carers with a choice of hair colour, hospital name, and glasses etc.
50% of the money raised was to be used to buy PPE kits for Nurses and carers, but the percentage increased as the orders increased. Each doll was taking 12 hours each at first, with hand painted details taking several coats, a 6-week waiting list soon became longer. But by the end of May, over £500 was soon raised which was used to buy masks, plastic hair covers, shoe covers, aprons, hand creams, blue rolls, shampoos, coffee, & Tea bags, all donated to the hospitals and local care homes.
To show her support, the Overnight Telecare Team Leader Alison bought 3 of the dolls, with outfits matching members of her staff. She has said they have been a source of amusement in a stressful time, asking staff if they have introduced themselves to the new staff, staff asking if they were drivers or none drivers, if their work place inductions have been done and have they had a supervision and PPE training!
Sadly, they stopped taking orders on 22nd May, due to increased Nursing shifts and other commitments. But you can check out their ongoing efforts via Twitter here: https://twitter.com/reelycreative?lang=en
